No 3D accelation with Suse 10 & Nvidia XFX5700 Ultra

I've installed Suse10 (bought it) today and everything went fine. Installed the Nvidia drivers usings Yast Update and so on. No problems whatsoever.

Anyway, rebooted my computer, everything seemed to be ok. But then I checked sax2... and I saw that the card was using the nv instead of the nvidia drivers.

Since the new sax won't let you change things like it should I changed the xorg.conf file manually. (Thank god I made a copy of the xorg.conf file in 9.3).

So far so good....

It loads the Nvidia drivers everything is ok.....

but I can't enable 3D acceleration.

Anyone a clue????

Got it fixed....

Downloaded the nvidia drivers and installed them manually (init 3, sh nvidiablablabla.run, etc) then it said I had to configure the card in Yast (sax).
Rebooted my computer and voila 3D is enabled.

Odd. I used the fetchnvidia.sh script from "Software Installer" and it all worked perfectly, including 3D. Will be interesting to see if it works when upgrading the driver to enable SLI soon.

fetchnvidia.sh

I tried fetchnvidia.sh and it doesn't work on 10.0 for me.
It did on 9.2 and 9.3. What version of SUSE were you
successful with because this discussion is about 10.0 as I
read it? If it did work for you on 10.0 then what is the
difference between what we are doing and what you are
doing? I.E. with the card or OS version level?

If this issue is with 10.0 only it would be nice if Nvidia would
upgrade/recompile the driver to work with 10.0 so that
the fetchnvidia.sh script would work from YOU.

Amusing. I'm using 10.0. Amusing because with 9.3 and 9.2 it didn't work for me but 10 does, perfectly.

On 9.2 and .3 I had to do it manually.
