ModeLine VTotal expected ???

While trying to get an xdisplay on a Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP 20.1" Wide Screen
Flat Panel LCD Monitor with a native resolution of 1680x1050 and a ATI Radeon
X600 graphics board, using SuSE 9.2 I get the error message
"ModeLine VTotal expected".
What is that and where does it come from? Google was no help.

Thanks for any help or hints.
