Just upgraded to SuSE 9.3/xconsole problem

I just upgraded to SuSE 9.3, I've managed to get it working now and installed the nvidia driver for it, also got several on-line updates but since I rebooted I lost the main log in screen and got another one instead even though I didn't change anything. Now xconsole has decided to throw some error messages at me and I don't know what to do. Do I need to upgrade the kernel because when I tried to change the settings for the graphics driver it didn't save the settings properly and now they're back to how they were set before.

What should I do with it now?

Would be grateful if somebody can help me, many thanks.

Many of you (like me) had or have the problem that after updating the KDE login manager is gone and an grey boring XDM login manager appears. Most of you think that it's related to the Nvidia driver. It doesn't..

Anyway here is the solution.

1 - Boot your computer
2 - In the xdm login screen, login as root
3 - If KDE appears got to step 6, otherwise follow the leads below
4 - left click on the desktop and select terminal (keep button pressed)
5 - Enter KDE, press enter. KDE will start now under xdm
6 - start yast
7 - go to System -> edit /etc/sysconfig-files
8 - do a Search and search for xdm
9 - find DISPLAYMANAGER xdm and open it
10 - change it to kdm
11 - close everything and reboot

Worked for me, give it a try
