install new themes Q

Howdy,

I was wondering where to go to view/install new themes in my KDE environment.

I am talking about from the Control Center:
Appearance & Themes - Theme Manager;
There i see choices like
KDE_Classic,
Keramik,
Redmond,
etc.

Are these the only themes that are available?
Or is there some place on the web where you can choose many many more?
For instance, is there a sort of Mac/OSX style theme?

thank you.

A Google for "KDE themes" reveals this:

http://www.kde-look.org/

I've tried to download them into MEPIS (and then finally gave up on MEPIS) but how to install them and get them to "stick" is something I don't know. I couldn't even get the screensaver to stick in MEPIS.

The "Celtic" one is kind of cool if that came with your distro, but if you can download them, open them, and get them to "stick", I'd really like to know how.

Go to kde-look.org and kde-apps.org for many KDE related goodies.

actually it looks like a Gnome environment... and by the looks of your first post you are using KDE... so you could just install Gnome (should be on your install disc)

and/or add the KDE and Gnome sources from this page to your yast repository list - they have a few more KDE and Gnome themes not included in the 'official' releases.

it will ask you something like 'these are only RPM packages...blah blah blah...are you sure?' - go ahead and say yes and then you can just use yast to install these new themes. (sorry for being so gernal - not at my Suse box at the moment!)

Thats a tweaked version of GNOME 2.14. You can do something similar by tinkering with your panel settings and the applets that appear on each panel. You can get really cool themes from gnome-look.org. I prefer KDE and there are themes from kde-look.org that will achieve a similar look and feel to the gnome screenshot.
