Install KDE

When I installed SuSE 10 I elected to not install the KDE desktop and I would now like to install it. How do I do this? In YAST under 'Installation Source' I disabled the CDs and added some FTP sites. I went into 'Software Management' and did a search on KDE and came up with a LOT of hits, not even certain if any of them are what I want.

I used to use FC3 and 4 and going back and adding software from their CDs seemed to be a bit more intuitive for a noobie like me. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

You should find "kdebase3" in your Yast Software Management. Check the box to install and accept.

Here is a reference link

I already had kdebase3 installed. I found that it was kdebase3-session that I needed. Once I installed that then I was able to log into KDE.

BTW, how does on remove software that was installed with Yast?

Yast -> Software Management should do the trick too with deleting packages. When your right click on the application box you should notice a trash can. By selecting the trash can and Accept you should delete the package.

A good resource for you is the SuSE Linux Documentation which should be located on your desktop Panel Menu. The SuSE Linux Documentation can be found by clicking the SUSE Help Center icon which is the icon with the SUse logo surrounded by a life preserver. Installing and Removing Software is located in section 3.2.1 of the SuSE Linux Documentation.

Wish that I saw that life preserver before, guess that I need to pay more attention...

Thanks for your help

I don't think that your 'www' button is working. I was trying to get to your page and nothing was happening.

Todd

PS How much do you know about AmaroK and m4a files? lol
