hi i installed suse 9.3 last week but suse has 1.4.0.2 jre version in itself so i want to install 1.5.0 i downloaded and installed new java but the system is using still old java version when i type java how can i change the old verison to new version thanks
Just to check,if you have the full 9.3 SUSE, java 1.5 is on the install dvd which you can install through YAST rather than mess about with this, not sure if it's on the ftp download if that's what you've got.
Launch YOU. Under Show Patch Category, click on the triangle and select "installable patches" from the drop down menu. From the list, choose the Java 2 Runtime Environment update. Check mark sun-1_5_0-sun and sun-1_5_0-sun-plugin. Then click accept.
Originally posted by Dakkar i looked at it but there is a lock icon near the jre 1.5.0 so i cannot be able to install how can i get rid of that lock icon
Thanks
The lock icon indicates a permissions issue. File is probably owned by root.
