How to build usb modules into kernel??

Hello friends,
Well i am trying to configure my webcam which is a usb version and recently i compiled the driver for it which is spca5xx version and now after installing it, the driver says the usb modules need to be installed or build into the kernel. But while booting the system, on verbose mode the kernel shows the detection of camera and its preloaded driver which is sn9c102 and in the path /dev/video0. But when i tried to access it, the applications fails to get the images from it and says wrong device or cant find the port or some time device not detected also. So what should i do now??
I am not an expert so please kindly explain.

Do i need to buld usb modules into kernel. By the way i am using SUSE 10.1 which has 2.6.16 version of kernel.
And also there is no entry of my camera or its driver in the list of cameras supported by many applications on kde. Actually my camera is a windows based camera hence i dont know in what name my camera will be recognized in the linux world. Till now as far as i know is the driver for my camera is spca5xx and i have compiled and installed it. But still cant view images or unable to access it.
I downloaded that driver from http://mxhaard.free.fr.

Thanks alot

From a console window, run these two commands: hwinfo --usb and hwinfo --usb-ctrl. Take note of the drivers named in the output. The output will also tell you if the driver is currently loaded.

If the drivers named in the commands listed above are not loaded, run modprobe <modulename> to load the module and probe the hardware.

Last, run modprobe spca5xx. Then try the webcam.
