Having problems with updating java

When I installed my suse 9.2 I installed the java sdk that came with 9.2. I then tried to upgrade to jdk 1.5.0_01. I added it to the path and did everything I normally do when I install a jdk. However when I checked the java version I get:

java version "1.4.2_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_06-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode)

It should say 1.5.0_01.

As I am writing this now I found the /etc/alternatives directory. In this directory I found all the java related executable files. Now my question is should I remove the soft link from the 1.4.2 version of the Java compiler and create a new sys link to the 1.5 version?

Maybe you can play with the setJava script. Type 'setJava --help' for more information.
