What kind of OS is it?
For further information about grub see the grub info page (by the command info grub).
We can say nothing if you don't give us more details.
Any kind of OS have different way to load itself.

Now then:
You open the file /boot/grub/grub.conf
The file name may be menu.lst on some distro.

add these line:
Code:
title slack 10.2
root (hd3,1)
kernel /boot/NameOfTheLinuxKernel kernel_parameter
initrd /boot/nameoffile.img
Note:
+ the first line is the name of the OS, you can type anything here (after the keyword title) and it will appear in the grub menu
+ The second tell grub where was the / directory of that OS.
I assume that it is hddd2
+ The last two lines is just the generic way to load linux OS.
I don't use slack so I don't know what they are exactly.
But there must be another grub config file in slack /boot directory
Slack know how to load it, use that file as an example
