Giving it another chance. Mouse issues...again
Ok....Re-re-re-re-re-installed Suse 10.1. Everything went smoothly, except the printer, which always worked immediately in the past forced me to remove it and reconfigure it. I even re-installed the Nvidia graphics driver with ease. However, I went to play around with the mouse. I have the MX700 from Logitech. God knows how many times I've tried to get it working properly so I can use my extra buttons...especially the way that MacroShiet lets me use it to go forwards and backwards in Mozilla Firefox. Welllll...I read yet another posting and decided....HELL...WHY NOT? After all, I seemed to be on a roll. So, First I decided to try the Logitech MX310 or whatever it is that is offered. Everything seemed ok...I even tested it before saving it. Of course it didn't get my desired buttons going...but at least it worked properly otherwise. I would have just switched it back to its original settings, but didn't see an option for the ....what was it....Logitech hub or something....I forget. Well, everthing was still hunkie-dorie.....That is until I decided to switch users and go into "root". Suddenly my mouse stopped functioning....THAT'S IT.....BANG!.....YOU'RE DEAD!!!!!!!
Fortunately, I have a Wacom tablet which I was still able to navigate around with...as I am doing now. I tried to get back in and change the mouse settings to whatever I could to get it to work. Still, I tested it before saving and it would for some of them lock up my tablet as well so I was forced to reboot in order to get things back to at least let me use the tablet. Ha! I forgot the other error message when I get into yast/hardware/mouse....It tells me: CANNOT DEACTIVATE ALL DISPLAYS: AT LEAST ONE DISPLAY MUST BE ACTIVE.
HUH?
Can someone please help me? Were it not for my graphics programs, I'd switch back to pure Linux...even at the expense of my new scanner. However, BS like this mouse problem has got to stop!
