hi every body
i have installed suse10.1
when i tried to install my network card Realtek RTL8139 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
it siad to write
#make install
when i wrote it
this error appears
makefile 24:**linux kernal source not found .stop
now i can't acces the net
can any body help
Have you tried installing the card with Yast/Network Devices/Network Card/Add/Select from List? Your Realtec card is listed.
You then need to set static or DHCP addressing. Host name and domain name. Nameserver(s) and default gateway (if not using DHCP).
Interestingly, Suse's Hardware Compatibility list says the card is supported in 10.0, but doesn't mention 10.1 - whereas most other cards in the list have both entries.
But, as it's in Yast's list, the module(s) should be rattling around somewhere.
i can see somthing called network manager
but it said that it couldn't find any network devices
i tried the yast and added my card but it didn't ask for dns server
i dont know what to do
can any body help
I think that my laptop's built in NIC device uses the same controller as yours:
02:01.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
lsmod shows that the "mii" and "8139too" drivers are loaded. I'm using SuSE Linux.
Did you run the YaST -> Network Devices -> Network Card wizard?
Try running YaST -> Hardware -> Hardware Information first. This will cause YaST to rescan your system. Perhaps then your device will show up.
look man
what i have did that i had opened yast and add my network card and
and cofigured the settings
then i went to network manger it said i am disconected
and it said "no network device found"
in my openion that to solve this problem i must install the filies that i have in the cd that comes with the card
but the problem is it is used under kernal 2.4 and 2.5
then what shall i do
