DRI with the opensource radeon driver

I am on opensuse 10.2

My GFX card is a Radeon 9200 SE

DRI is disabled when I am logged in with my ordinary username ..

When I logged off from the KDE menu and logged in again using root and in konsole wrote "glxinfo" it gave the first one again "direct rendering : No"

I should also mention that DRI wasn't easily enabled as this ..I got this result after a lot of effort and days of searching the web .. I used the results of my searches and the info from some threads here at LQ as well.

If you see this is no problem, I'd say that I tried running some massive multiplayer online game in console as root and it said you shouldn't run this as root.

Do anyone you know How to enable DRI for all users ?? (If this is possible)

I haven't looked too carefully, but your xorg.conf looks pretty good to me. I have a similar 9250 card, and it works just fine (I can run 3d accelerated applications as a normal user, including Beryl). I notice that you are using the "radeon" driver, while I am using "ati". I don't think this would make a difference, though.

A couple other differences:

I have extension "Composite" turned "on"...again I don't think this would make a difference.

I don't have a "VBERestore" option; I don't know what that is.

There are a couple options which I have that aren't in your xorg.conf, that I needed to set in order to get Beryl working. However, other 3d accelerated applications worked without them, and DRI was "on" without them.

What biophysics said helped much and the page also helped but not what they (in opensuse.org) said..

At first I read the solution and then writed this in console

But I didn't find any libGl.so in /usr/X11R6/ I found someones in /usr/lib/xorg and they were newer than those in /usr/lib/ .. This is a boring story ...

The summary is I tried everything till I made a copy from all libGl.so* files from /usr/lib/ to /usr/lib/xorg/ .. and it worked fine (even without restarting X).. Thanks everyone

Anyways, I think the files are in /usr/X11R6/lib and not /usr/X11R6/. I hope you checked it also.
