If same error, from user console try "wget http://www.suse.de/cgi-bin/suseservers.cgi" That should drop Suse update servers list into your current directory that you type wget from.
wget should work fine. If it does I'm thinking the yast2 online update file is probably a bit screwed with since i dont recall the ,br being after the URL.
I have the same Problem with SuSE 10.1 , I can't update it by YOU and I got warning
Cannot fetch remote server list. Only user-defined patch sources will be available.
Possible solution :
Check your Network Connection .
and my Network Connection is OK and I can Browsing and Website and Downloading
Under this warning when i Expand the Details I got
URL: http://www.suse.de/cgi-bin/suseservers.cgi
and I do Command # wget http://www.suse.de/cgi-bin/suseservers.cgi
I got this
# wget http://www.suse.de/cgi-bin/suseservers.cgi
--14:13:33-- http://www.suse.de/cgi=bin/suseserver.cgi
=> `suseserver.cgi'

The only reason you should be getting error like that is you don't have an internet connection. Make sure the connection is working properly. If it is, try different servers.
I was having the same problem. YOU not finding the server, and wget coming back 'connection timed out'
I typed the address listed in crazibri's reply directly into my web browser, and it came back with a list of addresses. Can't post them since I'm new to the forum, but give it a try
Took me a while to figure this out, so I'm gonna post it. The idea I list above comes back with a list of servers that start with 'http' - but you have to put them in as ftp servers, not http.
Hi Im a newbie here too and having a similar problem! I tied crazibri's wget command in the console and got a " no route to host" message .
Im connected to the net can ping inside and outside my domain browsing is working fine too.
Any suggestions please?
Im using Suse 10.0 and apart from this one problem its been great
Yay, so glad---at least I am not alone. lol. I have been fighting with this problem all day. I posted here about it this evening, after not managing to find your thread. I haven't solved it I am saddened to say.
Will keep trying and if I figure anything more out, will post back here.
I also have a mandriva machine, which updates just fine, so I know of course that the router is not an issue. It's something in the way that suse sets up it's connection (I'm gathering). Can any of you just state where you got your installation disk/s- I'm wondering whether there isn't a bug in the software-desperation speaking.

Ok, I've got my YOU working- and I have to say that I could swear that I've tried it before and failed. Anyway , for the sake of any newbies that might benefit from this, I'll post the solution that worked for me.
Firstly, and I can't emphasise this enough, is YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN AS ROOT. This might ellicit a chuckle or two from you seasoned linux folk, but it wasn't obvious to me and was a real hurdle (DOH!)
