[OpenSUSE 11.1] disable automatic update

I have an OpenSUSE 11.1 box which got shutdown after a power failure (no UPS). I turned it on after the power came back and it upgraded/ updated the whole sysetm (the kernel, packages etc.); after a reboot everything came backup good with the new kernel.

Is there any way to make sure the system doesn't upgrade itself again automatically? I have checked Yast2 -> Software -> Online Update Configuration and Automatic Online Update is not turned on.

Thanks.

What you can do is configuring the update applet .
In that way that it suit you most .
When it should search for updates and after a lot of hours before doing so again

If you use for instance KDE as GUI on the task bar you will find the update applet click on it and youŕe presented with a few options
One of them is for configuring
When you use GNOME as a GUI you will find the applet somewhere els

Ok i happen to use gnome and yes i've found a remedy to this

what you need to do is 2 things:

in yast or cc look for software update and set 'install software automatically' to 'never'.

now that's one thing the other is setting your repo's to disable autorefresh and only leave the original cdrom/dvd repo (which is basically the source from where you most likely had installed the system)

and then you should be fine ...no more updates

and yes set the dvd repo priority to 1 so that all other online repo's get ignored or at least marginalized.

thank you
