unable to login as NIS user

Hi all, i have configured my system as NIS clinet and enabled NIS logons on my SUSE 10 box. here i'm facing a problme that is i'm not able to logon as "testuser" and able to login as all other users. i dont know why this perticular user only is not allowing to logon.

Code:
Dec 8 13:14:35 HOST1 su: (to testuser) root on /dev/pts/4
Dec 8 13:14:36 HOST1 automount[18978]: failed to mount /usr/local/man
Dec 8 13:14:36 HOST1 automount[18979]: failed to mount /usr/local/share
Dec 8 13:15:01 HOST1 /usr/sbin/cron[19706]: (root) CMD (/usr/local/lib/sa/sa1 1 1)
Dec 8 13:15:03 HOST1 in.rshd[19788]: connect from 153.65.168.37 (153.65.168.37)
Dec 8 13:15:03 HOST1 rshd[19788]: pam_rhosts_auth(rsh:auth): allowed to testuser@tdhy80 as pteuser
Dec 8 13:15:03 HOST1 rshd[19790]: testuser@host1 as testuser: cmd='/usr/ucb/uptime'
i've also configured rsh server on this box with .rhosts and /etc/hosts.equiv to allow rsh from specified users and hosts.

does the problem with PAM module configuration? any help will be greatly appriciated.

thanks in advance.

Hi sunilvadranapu,

First of all, I want to make it clear that I don't have the answer to your question.

But.

As you are still in testing phase, may I ask you why did you choise NIS Server instead of LDAP?

Don't take it wrong, there is no offence here, but I would personnaly have chosen LDAP to setup a centralise authentication system.
You will find much more documentation on how to setup an LDAP server and all the authentication system which goes arround, than with a NIS server (which I would personnaly consider as deprecated or obselete)

On top of that, if you consider how many applications are supporting LDAP authentication nativly Vs NIS server, this is not a negligable argument as well.

The directory Fedora project can help you to setup an Open-LDAP server quite easily.
http://directory.fedoraproject.org/

I hope that will help,
Angel
