Q: VMware Server on SuSE10 performance issues

I've recently updated to the latest VMware server which has resulted in unbearably slow performance.

I've tried applying vmware-any-any-update101.tar.gz as recommended on the opensuse.org Wiki "Setting_up_VMware_on_SUSE_Linux" without any success.

OS SuSE10 (32bit - installer did mention something about it being 64bit hardware???)
2GB RAM
ASUS MB
HyperThreading off

x Guest WindowsXP sp2

uname -a
Linux linux1 2.6.13-15-default #1 Tue Sep 13 14:56:15 UTC 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
(tried SMP kernel as well)

/proc/version
Linux version 2.6.13-15-default (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 4.0.2 20050901 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)) #1 Tue Sep 13 14:56:15 UTC 2005

In my individual VM trace file I receive the following:

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I moved away from my SMP kernel (EM64T CPU - disabled hyperthreading) and did the symlink trick and that seemed to make little difference.

Once I connected to the VM using VNC and not the absurdly slow console tool it worked perfectly!

Seems VMware still need to do a bit of work on speeding up the VMware Server Console connection.
