Ultra5/10 needs keyboard

Hi,

I have a very odd problem (or maybe odd just to me). Anyhow, my Ultra 5/10 died on me and I used the sun keyboard to manually do a 'fsck -F ufs blah blah'. Anyhow, my system is up and running now. But the minute I detach the keyboard, internet connectivity is lost (I can't ssh into my machine). Looking at the monitor I see: "type 'go' to resume".

So, I have to re-plug back my sun keyboard and type 'go' and all is well again. Again, if I detach the keyboard, same thing. Has anyone ever experienced this before? This is completely strange to me.

This is in fact a feature used to interrupt systems that have become unresponsive for some reason, unplugging the keyboard is sending a break signal to the O/S.
You can disable it either with the command kbd
Code:
kdb -a disable
or by changing the file /etc/default/kbd
Code:
# Uncomment the following line to disable keyboard or serial device
# abort sequences:
KEYBOARD_ABORT=disable

Jlliagre,

Once again I need your help oh mighty one . I don't have the command 'kdb'. Do you know which package this is for solaris 2.8? Thanks.

P.S By the way, you are EXTREMELY knowledgable in solaris. How many years of experience do you have with solaris?

Nevermind Jlliagre, I figured you may have typed the command wrong. Anyhow, it works with:

kbd -a disable

THanks again!

With Unix, 20 years, with Solaris, something like 13 years ...
