Compiler in Solaris 10?

I'm a noob at Solaris... I just installed 10 to check it out a bit. I have a couple years experience with Slackware, Debian and Ubuntu.

I'm assuming that compiling is similar to other distributions, but when I try to ./configure, it tells me I don't have a compiler - but I distinctly installed gcc-3.4.1 - dependencies first. What happened? It said that installation was successful - Where did it go?

If it's not installed in the default location, configure may need to be told where it is.

Check /usr/sfw/bin directory, for gcc. If you find it there, add /usr/sfw/bin to your PATH, and try again. You can try CC, CCX env variables as well.

If you want to try Sun Studio C/C++ compilers, have a look at this web page: http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/c...oads/index.jsp
