Hi

We currently use Solaris 8 to format an array of 56 drives via a fibre channel card.

This is a very manual process.. it involves opening a console, typing format. This then gives a list of all 56 drives with a number.

We then have to enter the number of the drive. then we have to type format, then y.

That then starts formatting the drive we have chosen. We have to repeat this 56 times in individual windows!

Do you know if there is any way of writing a batch file or script that can automate this process? or point me in the right direction?

Maybe theres a program we can use to do this instead?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Isn't the format (1M) command supporting the "-f" option to allow non-interactive operation ?

Thanks for the reply, I am really not sure as I am a newbie to all this. Ill see what I can do... Any more suggestions would be grateful.
