I am trying to install Slack 9.1 on an old 486 with a 425 M HD.......I choose only the minimum packages ( from a and n )...things go okay until the install reaches "installing package devs" and then it hangs (waited 30 min)....this is just a learning machine and will not have X or anything like that...anyone hazard a guess why this is hanging and what I can do to get past this point...
I used the bare.i bootdisk
Machine info is sketchy at best but believe it or not I had grey cat linux running at one point
Could be a memeory problem. try installing ZipSlack and then 'migrate' it to a linux partition. See www.amigolinux.org for several small Slackware-compatible distros and minimal install HOWTO's.
