Lilo Bootprompt

Hi!

Ive read some guides about the problem on root password, it says about the lilo prompt where I have to put init=/bin/bash. My pc just displays a red screen with Linux as an option and on the lower part of the screen it says boot: <- I've enter the init=/bin/bash command here but it just says not recognized or something and then a "[Tab] For options" message. Hoping for your replies Sir/Mam. Thank you so much!

you need to append that option to the name of the image you're booting; for example:
Code:
boot: Linux init=/bin/bash
replace "Linux" with whatever your boot option is called

P.S. for logging in without the root password, have you tried the "single" option first? (as in "boot: Linux single" etc.)

Hi!

Thanks for the reply, so that's the right way he9x. I haven't trie the "single" way. I've reinstalled Slack 9.1 last night, but still when I'm already setting the root password it says something like this:

Passwd: Username not recognized.
Press Enter to continue

And then goes back to the password screen with a Yes & No option. Is there a problem with my distro? Thanks again!
