Would like to dual boot on it,
/dev/hda1 --> WinXP [Primary partition] (125GB)
/dev/hda2 --> /boot [Primary partition](100MB)
I'm left with partitioning for /, /home, swap (2GB) and /usr or /usr/local
so the problem is this which should I use for primary, extended/logical, how much space to assign each partition and whether I should use /usr or /usr/local?
oh and which kernel should I use to install?
Pls note that I want it to be upgradeable without having to lose any data or installed programs.
another qn would be can I transfer the license/registration key of windows xp from an old computer to this one? I'm not using the old computer anymore...
Any help appreciated.

ok, so I changed the keyboard, I think the keyboard was spoilt, rebooted with sata.i kernel this time and I got about 1 to 80 blocks or so for hdd space and I got the same error message that the vlaue is out of range when I partitioned it. What does this mean?
I have a 250GB hdd...2048mb hardly even half of it...
