Hi!

I've just download the CD set and the DVD for Slackware 13.1, for both 32b and 64b, I mean ... 4 releases.

My problem is that I want to install them in a virtual machine of VMWare, but when I select the ISO, VMWare tells me that no OS is found.

Then I try to mount the ISOs with UltraIso and the CD/DVD aren't recognized.

Can't I mount the ISOs with those tools or am I doing anything wrong or the ISOs (the four!!) are corrupted?

Compare the md5sums. If you're using Windows, here's one of many tools that check md5sums. http://www.pc-tools.net/win32/md5sums/
You can find the md5sums of the original ISOs here -
http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackware-13.1-iso/ for 32bit
http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackware64-13.1-iso/ for 64bit

Not really an error if that's the exact message. It just means VMware doesn't recognize which operating system is contained in the ISOs. Choose other Linux Kernel 2.6 and either 32bit or 64bit depending on which architecture of Slackware you are currently installing.

Thanks ... it has shocked me but ... no one of the ISOs match the expected md5!!!

Any other reliable mirror?

BTW, I chose 'other linux', but when installing it, the vmware bootloader said me 'no OS found', so the problem is with the CD/ISO, no with the content.

Use bit torrent if possible.

Instead of grabbing all of the 32bit ISOs on CD, you can also grab a single 32bit DVD.

I finished dowloading disc 1 from the mirror you linked to, and the md5sums matched. This is important in a couple of ways. Tells us the mirror is not hosting corrupted images, and that something might be wrong on your end.
Could be your transfer. Network connection dropping packets. If your down loading with a web browser, those have been known to cause issues with large transfers. Last resort would be general hardware errors (hard drive, ram ...), but you'd notice other problems first .

I'd use bit torrent, which checks the files as it downloads. Or, if your ISP thinks your a pirate just because your using bit torrent, use some type of download manager.

I'm downloading again from the same site both: 32b and 64b DVD ...

this time I'm downloading one of them and, when finish, the other ... I'll tell you if the ISOs come ok.

EDIT:

download again both slackware64-13.1-install-dvd.iso and slackware-13.1-install-dvd.iso from ftp://ftp.lip6.fr and they worked fine. Surely I had network troubles on my first attempt.
