Wireless wont "work"

Running Slack 13.1
Im able to configure the wireless with

Code:
iwconfig eth1 ESSID "mynetwork"
And im getting an IP from
Code:
dhcpcd
But i get connections timing out and unable to connect from Firefox...

Ive reset my router and Modem, but nothing seems to work...

I am able to ping out to "www.google.com" and sometimes able to connect, but im completely incapable of going to Hulu... Also, when i connect to pandora, it loads the page, but not the music.. Not sure whats up..

Usually before wireless will work entirely on my laptop, I'll have to install wicd.

Did you remember to add your user to the "netdev" group?

This is required by wicd.

iwconfig eth1 ESSID "mynetwork"

but now:

dhcpcd eth1

You can also scan for network:

iwlist eth1 scan

Were any changes made to the system between working and not working? Any upgrades, or new software installed? New user, perhaps?

Now that's odd... you sure your hardware isn't on the fritz? Come to think of it, I had almost exactly the same problem a couple of months back... turns out it was my cheap wireless router from Wal Mart that was the prob.

Yeah, I'd definitely test the hardware. The last time I had issues with browsing even though the connection claimed to be good it also was my router.

You can also check if you have the same problem with a different browser, f.ex. Konqueror or Opera. Try to upgrade your Firefox and see if that helps. Disable all extensions or run Firefox in safe mode to check that out as well.

Hooray for problems fixing themselves.

0kay, its one of two things

! My router had been freaking out and my internet was on and off all weekend, and i was constantly restarting it, but not getting service on my laptop only, so it could be a faulty router.

2 something with my computer. When i had the internet problems, starting up fluxbox took about 3s longer, not 100% sure why, but now it starts up instantly...
