I beg to differ, here at LQ we have many thoughtful interactions daily and help to make LQ one of the finest paces for users to get assistance or positive interaction(s). One can present their ideals and thoughts but should expect a good interaction with fellow members. Most problems or presentations do get members who will inject their positions or ideals. Hopefully all are on topic. We do occasionally get hi-jackers but hopefully the mod staff puts a nip on that.
As to your link, how is that relevant to your posted topic?
about <SHALL-NOT-BE-NAMED>, that was the context ?
there's an old saying "hundred people, hundred opinions"
ofc all should be valued and many will be right in one way or another (obvious or not)
if you want the "higher logic" behind that;
people that come to slackware because <VOLDEMORT> have a lower chance of staying with slackware then people that come for "learning linux" or "BSD likeness" or "simplicity" or "'cuz it's cool" (and so on)
the link is extremely relevant as it contains "easy come easy go" in the lyrics
edit: "higher logic" for the link; to lower the tension from mentioning the angle-bracketed thing
people that come to slackware because <VOLDEMORT> have a lower chance of staying with slackware then people that come for "learning linux" or "BSD likeness" or "simplicity" or "'cuz it's cool" (and so on)
You could be right. I'm not sure. It seems to me that if someone already knows and likes Linux for doing whatever it is they do on a computer, and then suddenly <VOLDEMORT> happened, they might just be interested in doing all those same things they've always done, but without the <VOLDEMORT>.
As long as Slackware empowers them to do that, why would they ever switch away?
Slackware invokes the mind, body, and spirit to have patience grasshopper! From one to understand Slackware, one must come to Slackware with open mind clear of thought. Then, the knowledge shall enter into the mind, the body will be at peace, and the soul shall gain enlightenment.
"Epistle to the Slackers II - Chapter 4, verse 5: Let thy mind be at peace, thy body at rest, and thy soul empowered by the simplicity of Slackware, for with Slackware ye shall find goodness."
