Upgrading nvidia drivers and kernel.

Just to make sure...

I've downloaded a new version of nvidia driver and nvidia kernel from SlackBuilds.org. In order to update What would be the best way to uninstall the old drivers and install the new ones? Do I have to use removepkg and then install the new ones? Any recommendation will be appreciated.

Thank you!
Glore2002.-

The nvidia installer does all for you, just run as root:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86<version>.pkg1.run
[edit]
Ah, you install the driver as slackware package, in this case just run
upgradepkg <name of nvidia package>

Or installpkg <name of nvidia package>, if it was not installed before

Thumbs up As always... Great!

As always keefaz, Great!

Will I have to modify xorg.conf again after upgrading?

Thanks my friend,

If your current xorg.conf works the way you want, you might want to make a copy of it, so you can get your settings back if they are lost for some reason (overwriting, removal, ...)
Code:
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf{,.bak}

If you use the scripts from slackbuilds.org, the correct way would be:
upgradepkg nvidia-driver
upgradepkg nvidia-kernel
nvidia-switch --nvidia

Just noticed this is not mentioned in the README. Will add it with the next update.
