Hello, I've installed the latest Slackware (10.2) and have come to find out that Firefox is not in date with the current Firefox version.
The current firefox version I'm running is 1.0.6. When, the current realease is 1.0.7.
I have downloaded the tar, but it beats me on how to install it. I think I've gotten all the files untared 'cause where I downloaded it there's a directory called firefoxsetup .
Don't install from the generic Linux tarball. Instead, o to http://linuxpackages.net and download the Slackware package for Firefox 1.0.7. You can install/upgrade that using Slackware's package management tools.
I downloaded version 1.07 from the Slackware current tree. Since FF is now officially supported in Slackware, this is the only source I prefer to update that package. This also is the easiest way to update FF because the update is in Slackware tgz format. I hope this helps.

You can use my Firefox 1.0.7 package for Slackware Linux or you can build your own by using the SlackBuild archive. The included SlackBuild does not really build Firefox from source : it uses the official en-US binary tarball to create a package for Slackware Linux. If you wish to build a Firefox package with support for your language, set the $FIREFOX_LANG variable in the SlackBuild.conf file : for example, to create a French package for Firefox, I set $FIREFOX_LANG to fr-FR as the French tarball for Firefox is in the fr-FR/ directory in the official download location for Firefox 1.0.7.
