Well everyone is allowed to fail once in a while I guess. Not to bash ubuntu anymore but I find openSUSE and Mandriva much more user-friendly "wussified" Linux distributions but that's a good thing for most people.[non-geeks like us ]

My Mum uses Linux and I am thankful to openSUSE for that, else she would be using win 7 now. :| Her work involves computer in office so she is not that of a newbie but certainly not ready to use slackware or arch or gentoo and frankly she doesn't have the time and interest either. Many people like her, just want to use Linux as a normal OS and I think ubuntu and co. does a fine job for that purpose. It's just that ubuntu is really an easy target to poke fun at since it's "the no.1 linux distro" and we all know how much truth lies there.

I still support Ubuntu’s initial mission to spread Linux for "normal" end users. Some poke and fun are nice sometimes but real bashing are very disgusting. Some people look at Canonical's agreement as necessary to prevent corporate biatches to steal some of that code. Letīs keep not only the code open, but our minds too.

Ok Slackd,

I had figured that Out... If Slackware is a Ferrari, LFS is probably a Koenigsegg... :-)

...but... just for curiosity... tell me...

...How long do I take to deploy a workable system...?

I Have to build the gnu toolchain from scratch, right...? and then compile all the userland apps from source...

I guess it would take me weeks to do it...

...And now I just ask... is (B)LFS so much better than Slackware to be worth the effort...?

I never tinkered with LFS...
