Thanks for the message. I’m too recently involved with Open Source operating systems to have been involved with earlier distro versions. My experience with FreeBSD 5.1 and 5.2.1 led me to evaluate and settle upon Slackware Linux 9.1, and currently, 10.0. I thought it would be a good idea to introduce some fresh impetus into the user group community in Belfast, since so many have fallen by the wayside, or are listed in Google, but are all a dead end, as far as I could ascertain.
I chose Slackware because it is a good choice, which is well supported, and is more amenable to customising, etc, than most of the current crop of distros, good as they are.
Am new to Linux but would like to meet other Belfast linux users/programmers to discuss possible project. Will this Slackware users group meet up etc? Any Debian users in NI out there?
...and yes www.belfastlinux.org takes you nowhere (ghost ship?)
