First issue:
I made the mistake of running Pidgin once. I configured no accounts and closed it. Now, every time I log in, it runs and wants me to create accounts. I've looked in .kde/Autostart and did not see Pidgin. How do I stop it from running each time I log in?
Second issue:
Some of my icons are missing. For instance, the icons used for the 6 day forecast in Weather Forecast (plasmid? plasmoid?) are missing, instead showing only a page with a question mark and an upturned lower-right corner as the "weather" symbol for each day of the six day forecast.
Also, I get the same question-mark icon for Settings / File Manager and Settings / Removable Drives and Media. I followed this icon rabbit hole for a while and just ended up thoroughly confusing myself.
I can help with the Pidgin issue, open/close every thing you want to start each time you reboot then logout using the kmenu and next time you boot it should load the same programs that where open last time.

Brilliant! Thank you for that.
Now I wonder in which file the system sticks those things to run? ;vD
Make sure you have oxygen icons package installed.
Yes, I did. And I just re-installed oxygen icons, gnome icon theme, kdeedu, kde plasma stuff, tango icons, and a couple of other things with 'weather' pngs list in their /var/log/packages entries.
It didn't work. :v(
If it matters, I've been upgrading with current about every month or so for a while and these disappeared a few updates ago.
