Toshiba's snd-atiixp problem with dropline

Hi guys,

I've been doing a lot of posting today because my laptop has been so screwy. First wireless, now sound, and then I have to enable dri for my mobility radeon 7000. Hope you guys can help me with my sound problem.

I installed dropline 2.8.2 on my Toshiba A65. This A65 has two sound modules that it loads snd-atiixp and snd-atiixp-modem. Now, after I did alsaconf and installed the snd-atiixp module, the snd-atiixp-modem module also loads. The problem with this is, if snd-atiixp-modem loads, then snd-atiixp doesn't work. So the goal is to not load snd-atiixp-modem at all.

First of all, may I ask what is the proper way to not load a module at startup? Since I have Linux 2.6.7 I know I can use modprobe -r snd-atiixp-modem to unload the module and add it in rc.local. But now the problem is, dropline doesn't start if the snd-atiixp-modem is not loaded. It starts and hangs at the splash screen. Doing Ctrl+Alt+Bksp, I see the problem is it's searching for /dev/dsp for some reason and then it says Esound failed to start.

If I don't touch the snd-atiixp-modem module, then dropline starts fine, but I have no sound. What's going on here? Am I unloading the snd-atiixp-modem module correctly? Thanks for the help. Also look for the Linksys WPC54GS post and see if you can help on that as well. Thanks a lot.
