System shutdown when calling SETUP.

When I type "setup" I get a blank line and it stays like that for like 4-5 seconds then it sends the KILL singal.

I have created one partition... Then the CD-ROM doesn't want to start again, I have to turn off the computer to be able to do that.

What's wrong?

(can't boot from CD-ROM so I have to use floppies)

System:
486 DX2, 66MHz
12MB RAM (1MB used for graphics)

Thanks in advance.

Well... now I can launch setup using a DOS disk that loads the CD-ROM and then launch Linux on the CD using LOADLIN, but I get error.

"Kernel panic: Out of memory and no killable processes..."

But from what I've seen, it loads modules that I will never need. Is it possible to point out a file on my DOS disk that tells it which modules to load?

According to the Slackware site, the minimum requirements for a slack install are 16MB memory. That being said, I recently installed 8.1 on an old laptop with 4MB. There is a bootdisk image called lowmem.i for situations such as these. Look in the /bootdisks directory.

You can get more info in the Slackware-HOWTO in the root directory of the cd.

Enjoy!

Thanks, I forgot about that one (lowmem.i).
Now it's up and running, only need to install the old ISA NIC.

The ISA NIC's are limited due to the speed of the ISA bus.
And no PnP like PCI.
