Switching virtual consoles from X then back takes me out of X
I'm on tty1. I type startx. I'm in X and switch to tty2 by typing Ctrl+Alt+F2. The trouble is when I return I'm out of X. It still looks as though it's running as it doesn't give me a prompt until I hit Ctrl+C. It's annoying to have to keep restarting, anything I can do?
If you started X from tty1, then X is definitely not running on tty1. You're switching to the wrong virtual console. X will probably be running on the next unused virtual console, though some systems like to put it on tty7.
