Talking

You don't need to go back to xfree86 to get the ATI drivers to work. Just install them as normal, configure as normal, compile as normal, and then rename /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. You should be flying at this point (has not failed for me yet!).

Just remove all packages starting with x11 and install 9.1 X packages starting with xfree86 (of course, do this from a console without X running ).

Running ATI Radeon 9200 SE and Radeon 9000 Pro on Slack 10's Xorg server without problems.. See you on ET

Seriously, you shouldn't be having problems. More than likely it's not the X servers fault, but something you've done or not done.

Ok, Last Time I tryed using these drivers was with BoneCrushers SATA Kernel, i just installed them on the 2.4.27 SATA kernel form slackware-current. They are working pretty well right now. I'm gonna give Wolf: ET a test drive (dling now). btw, i switched back to Xorg 6.7.0....
