Since I own an ATI card and i wish i had 3D. I'd like to know your guys ideas on Switching Xorg 6.8.1 to XFree86 for 3D Support. Anyway Tell me what ya think.
You don't need to go back to xfree86 to get the ATI drivers to work. Just install them as normal, configure as normal, compile as normal, and then rename /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. You should be flying at this point (has not failed for me yet!).
dang it, XFree broke half my apps. Also Shade, My Main prob is even tho the drivers install and run, when i try and do anything 3D..... they well, stop working.
Ok, Last Time I tryed using these drivers was with BoneCrushers SATA Kernel, i just installed them on the 2.4.27 SATA kernel form slackware-current. They are working pretty well right now. I'm gonna give Wolf: ET a test drive (dling now). btw, i switched back to Xorg 6.7.0....
