Switching From Xorg to Xfree86 4.3.0
Since I own an ATI card and i wish i had 3D. I'd like to know your guys ideas on Switching Xorg 6.8.1 to XFree86 for 3D Support. Anyway Tell me what ya think.

You don't need to go back to xfree86 to get the ATI drivers to work. Just install them as normal, configure as normal, compile as normal, and then rename /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. You should be flying at this point (has not failed for me yet!).

i'v tryed that, 3D doesn't work and Xorg 6.8.1 changed alot from the XFree86 packages.

Just remove all packages starting with x11 and install 9.1 X packages starting with xfree86 (of course, do this from a console without X running  ).

Running ATI Radeon 9200 SE and Radeon 9000 Pro on Slack 10's Xorg server without problems.. See you on ET
Seriously, you shouldn't be having problems. More than likely it's not the X servers fault, but something you've done or not done.

dang it, XFree broke half my apps. Also Shade, My Main prob is even tho the drivers install and run, when i try and do anything 3D..... they well, stop working.

Ok, Last Time I tryed using these drivers was with BoneCrushers SATA Kernel, i just installed them on the 2.4.27 SATA kernel form slackware-current. They are working pretty well right now. I'm gonna give Wolf: ET a test drive (dling now). btw, i switched back to Xorg 6.7.0....
