swap on & sound question

How do I set my computer to automatically set the swap partition instead of having to input....

swapon /dev/hda3

every time my computer boots.

Can someone tell me the file I need to edit to get my sound card working. There are no errors at all it just needs to be enabled.

Try 'modprobe soundcore', then 'lsmod' to see what modules are loaded.

Are you sure the swap is not active? Do a 'free' and see if it lists your swap.

Then your sound module is loaded. You won't get a response unless it don't work. Have you verified that you get no sound by trying to play a music-cd?

My sound didn't work until a couple of days ago. I installed ALSA, from alsa-project.org/.

Follow the install instructions and you should have no problem with sound.

To activate swap partition add following string to /etc/fstab file:
/dev/hdXX swap swap defaults 0 0

Replace hdXX with you swap's exact partition
