strange thing happening with touchpad and http links and tabs with FF4 in latest RC
Hi all,
Very wierd problem that seems to be happening in FF4 since upgrade to the latest 1337 rc.
When clicking on a web link using the laptop touchpad, if I tap the middle of touchpad, the link will invariably open in a new tab, but tapping to either the LH or RH side of the touchpad opens the link in the existing window.
Any FF gurus out there who may know of some hidden option that might be causing this, and how to disable it?, or do I need to file this as a bug?
I refrained from posting earlier - I didn't want to negate a 0-reply thread with a non-solution....
I've been having similar issues over the past few weeks, on different hardware - a laptop and a netbook, but not simultaneously; originally, it happened on the netbook, but now it doesn't - it wasn't happening on the laptop, but now it is...hmmm.
In my case, *where* I click on the touchpad doesn't matter: it's the result of the click that poses strange results.
On the netbook, when I clicked a link, a new tab would *often* open (it's normally setup so that same-site links open in the same tab, but other-site links would open in a new tab), but the link would either be something from my history, or something totally unexpected, from who-knows-where.
This behaviour ended 3 or 4 updates ago (possible with 13.37).
However, now the laptop is misbehaving. As an example, I received an e-transfer (money-by-email) yesterday, and even though I clicked the button to "continue", it went to a page which indicated that I had *declined* the transfer...so I clicked "cancel" to return to the previous step, but it misread the click as a "continue", which promptly finalized the undesired "decline."
Along the same lines, on Slashdot, for example, clicking on a same-site link will "rollup" the thread, as opposed to taking me to the thread.
I'm just in the process of installing the latest upgrades, so I'll report back if there are any changes, but for now, I too, am stumped.
