Unhappy soundcard nightmare2


can some one plz tell me how can i get my sound card to work. im on slackware 8.0 , i have no sound other then the system bell?!

my sound card is: creative sound blaster audio PCI28Dsound blaster audio PCI28D legacy device

please

Did you unhash out your sound card from rc.modules? Thats the first step.

rc.modules is at /etc/rc.d/rc.modules. Go there with a text editer (I prefer to use Midnight Commander, type "mc" at the command prompt) and make sure that the driver for your card doesnt have a "#" in front of it. If it does log in as root and erase the #. Then you will want to make the card useable to users other then root. The easiest way is to log in as root and just let every user have access to it, do "chmod 666 /dev/dsp".
