I need to setup a mutilib 14.1 system on a laptop that I use for teaching, so that I can get Pipelight and Wine running. Has anyone else tried setting this up using slpkg? Any gotchas that I should watch out for? I am particularly thinking about ensuring that the correct gcc and glibc versions are not later downgraded.
actually you may want to just use the latest chromium from alien bob or use the firefox repackage script to install the latest firefox.
because what your doing with pipelight is native now for many websites.
if you really want to use pipelight I have used it it is ok. But stopped since read above. http://alien.slackbook.org/blog/pipe...inux-browsers/
there you go just once in a while update your pipelight
if using native firefox use freshplayer plugin instead of flash. It will pull in the cdm your trying to run. that means installing chromium and pepperflash.

Thanks for the quick reply Drakeo. There are a couple of things I am confused about:
1) AFAIK Chromium no longer supports the Netscape plugin API, meaning that there should be no way to get Pipelight/Silverlight working in Chromium, which is what I would prefer. I have Palemoon and IceWeasel installed, so I would assume P/S would work in one of those two.
2) In your link reference, it seems that Alien Bob is also referring to upgrading the system to multilib:
Quote:
so if you are running 64-bit Slackware you will have to switch it to a multilib system first
3) The way that I read this is to upgrade to a multilib system first. Secondly innstall the OpenAL, cabextract, pipelight, web-core-fonts installer, and wine-pipelight components and configure them. Lastly, to install a user agent switcher and test to see if Pipelight is working correctly.
You're correct that Chromium no longer supports NPAPI, but you still don't need to go all crazy for the support. You just need Eric's chromium build and his chromium pepperflash plugin. You no longer need wine or pipelight for proper flash support in chromium.

I didn't realize you were trying to get silverlight running (since most sites use flash, and most people who would use this method used it for Netflix, which no longer requires widevine). For that, I believe you need the chromium-widevine-plugin package along with a few others (and as far as I know, it does require multilib). See Eric's blog post for more details.
