Slax not recognising vmmon

I have installed a module (from slax website) which is supposed to be a compiled version of vmware workstatation 5 for 5.1.7 however it fails to load any vm. It says it cant load /dev/vmmon and to make sure vmmon module is loaded. Modprobe wont pick up this module. I am running this as root. running insmod says it's in the wrong format.

Did it say which version of the kernel the vmmon module was compiled for?

Can we assume you're trying to install this package on Slackware (your sig is full of debian and ubuntu)?

Do the docs say whether you need to run vmware-config.pl after installing it? That should allow you to set up locations for icons, etc., configure networking and compile the modules.

No I will try it then. But I'd rather not having to keep doing this because it takes a while to build the modules. Just dont like waiting lol. could it be because am running it on AMD64 bit processor. But the amd 64 (home pc) is backwards compatible with 32bit. I need 32bit because at uni we only have 32bit processors
