No reason to be sorry, hitest, everyone is entitled to one's opinion and to express it, as far as I am in concern. Have a good day.
Thanks brother! That means a lot to me, man. I'm going through a personal crisis with my adult children and I am not handling it very well. You have a good day too, Didier.

I hope whatever is going on with your children resolves itself well, and soon. Mine are in their thirties but they are still just kids to me and I feel as responsible for them now as I always have. There is no right way of handling them, just show up and do your best. You have a good day

Just got Zenwalk 15.0 up & running in VBox. Virtually (pun intended) the same routine (ncurses interface) as Slackware installation + the option to create a "normal" user.
Ideal for anybody who wants a slimmed-down Slackware, and doesn't want the hassle of selecting packages. 10/10.
Salix seems stuck at 14.2.
No, you didn't; people calmly stating their opinion* is what makes a good forum.
I don't think any parent ever has.
*I don't agree with yours on this matter but I remember that YMMV.
Thanks for your support, fido_dogstoyevsky! It's greatly appreciated. Agreed! A forum where people can engage in rational, logical arguments is indeed a good thing!
So desktop users shouldn't benefit from what those dependencies do offer those packages? Pat should compile a system using the lowest common denominator? How do you decide what the lowest common denominator is?
If you don't run a full system, then that's a choice one is willingly making and that may result in broken packages that might require recompiling or tracking down those dependencies.
This is why RH have a non gui release thats D/L's exceed that of its "full" iso and is copied over the centos and rocky, and so heavily used in data centres, yes yes yes I've heard the " but tehy have a floor full of packager " and thertre's just Pat... yes, true, but you know what i'm going to say next dont you, but since you on teh cheersquad I wont waste my time
I acted inappropriately in my original post, I f%^%ed up. I am sorry for what I've done, Didier. I hope everyone has a good day today.
No you did not act inappropriately. No you did not trucked up. Do not be sorry, you have nothing to be sorry about. You expressed an opinion, you are entitled to that opinion. It was a valid opinion and discussion point regarding this Slackware Forum. Part of which I agreed with. I would not go to Slackware derivative forum and post topics about Slackware ether. That said, if the Slackware derivative has its own forum, then that is were folks should be posting. My opinion of course.

Thanks, mate! I appreciate it that you support my right to express my point of view. Thank you for your kind words. A few days ago I thought that I had messed up so badly here that I should leave LQ entirely. I'm very happy to be a member of the LQ Slackware forum!

I gave it a test spin too. Probably my own lack of understanding and preparation, but as soon as I tried to update stuff with netpkg, it upgraded one of the aaa packages and then broke.
