Slackware 9.1 network card issue?

Just installed Slackware 9.1 and it didnt see or install my intel network card. I know it auto installed when i installed Mandrake a few months back. During setup it asked me if i wanted to set up my network, but i didnt and now I go into kde and try to find the network card and its not there.

I am a complete newbie to linux and so far havent done too much except get lilo and KDE working. Any help, thanks

Try "netconfig" it is wut u rejected to do during install. Then try to search this forum for keywords like "rc.inet1, internet connection, network .."

Ok i setup up the network, but thats not really the issue. The problem is that it has not detected my network card. I have 127.0.0.1 loopback address for an ip and when i am in kde and look at network adaptors all i see is IO.

How can I get it to see the network card? thx

what kind of card its it? If it's a PCI, then try /sbin/lspci which will tell you if your system is identifying it....(post the output)

Open a terminal and do a:
/sbin/lspci -v
And see if your card is listed in there.

Also, take a look at:
/sbin/ifconfig -a

I did as suggested and here is what i found.

that is the correct Intel NIC.

When i do /sbin/ifconfig -a I get two responses "eth0" and "lo".

lo is the loopback address but eth0 does not have an ip address.

That's where netconfig comes into play.

Or edit /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf, then re-run /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1
