Slackware 9.1 & PopFile

I am brand new to Linux. I receive over 500 messages per day from several email accounts. Unfortunately about 1/2 of them are spam and I need a good anti-spam filter. In Windows PopFile gave me about a 99.72% detection rate for spam. I'd like to use it with Slackware 9.1 in X but I am at a loss concerning how to set it up and run it. The PopFile site offers very little help. There's a bit for RedHat and Mandrake but I find nothing for Slack. Okay.... I have the cross-platform zip for v0.22.1 downloaded from sourceforge. What must I do now to get PopFile going?

Take a look at: http://popfile.sourceforge.net/cgi-b...latformInstall

Oh and if you want it started at bootup just add a line to execute it on /etc/rc.d/rc.local, just put the name of the file with the path there. IE: /home/myacc/popfile/popfile.pl

Thank you for directing me to the proper link. I honestly don't know how I managed to miss that while at the PopFile site.

I followed the instructions and reviewed all my perl modules and used cpan to acquire 3 from the list that I needed. I also had 3 others to install that weren't on the list. Thankfully, PopFile squawks and gives missing module information when it cannot load because something is missing. PopFile is up and running now, I've configured my email prog to work with it and I am teaching PopFile what's spam. I also created the startup routine you suggested.

I also enjoyed the familiarization with cpan and updated it during the course of things.

This was a nice experience. Thanks for your help.

I have to retract something. The startup link you suggested I place in rc.local does initate popfile at bootup but popfile fails to load. I get an error message "Can't locate POPFile/Loader.pm in @INC ( ...........laundry list of items in @INC.......... ) at /home/trap/popfile/popfile.pl line 38."

Line 38 of popfile.pl contains: use POPFile::Loader;

I can load popfile from root if I have it configured to listen on port 110 and from trap if I have it listen on port 1110. Why won't it load correctly at bootup though?
