Yes. You should now have the LILO boot code in the MBR. That code needs to be updated by the lilo program so that the code can find where the bootloader code starts and to where it needs to jump to continue the boot. It will work this out from the /etc/lilo.conf file information.
You were right, allend! I re-ran lilo as you directed, and now at start-up I receive a Slackware screen with boot options. I can boot into both Windows and Slackware. And, once into Slackware I can successfully startx.
You guys are geniuses! Many, many, thanks for all of the assistance. And, for you patience in dealing with a Slackware newbie!
I did notice an issue once in the KDE desktop. It does not seem to recognize my wireless card - it doesn't show any connections. But, I don't think that is a Slackware issue. I have the Slax Linux distribution on a USB thumb drive. It uses the KDE desktop too, and it doesn't find my wireless connection, either. So, either there's a conflict with KDE recognizing my wireless card, or I'm not doing something correctly. But, I'll start another thread regarding that issue to keep the threads on topic.
I'm marking this thread as Solved! Thanks again to all who were so persistent in assisting me in getting Slackware running!
When Lilo asks to automatically run let it run, then write to the mbr, and you will be done with it, it will boot and let you choose between windows and slack. If something were to foul up, in which it wont, you do not loose windows. windows recovery will repair it and put it back exactly as it was before. If everything above fails Super grub will boot it for you, it is just a download that you need anyway.
