slack current-> Plasma->lockscreen control


what lock screen is Plasma using? I'm wanting to change the background to a separate image other than current wallpaper.

Nope, the screen locking is not done by SDDM. There is the configuration of appearance of Screen Locker:

Workspace -> Workspace Behavior -> Screen Locking -> Appearance

It depends

During the login step, the lock screen is handled by sddm
If you lock the screen after logging in, you are right LuckyC'

The OP simply did not specify the step ;-)

2 da both of ya, to clear things up. I just hit menu typed in sddm selected it. it opened settings where it lives and I downloaded a new theme, installed, set, done. thanks to Marav's lead.. thanks again.
