Slack 9.1 rebooted for no reason!! i need help


i was watching a movie with some default slackware player XINE i think
and after 30 minutes my PC just rebooted like i turn the reboot switch!
i was confused, but liter i try to boot on Win XP, i have a seminar i have to do in MATLAB, but my XP crashis to, help me please i am failng my exam if i don't fix it. i also tryed to reinstal it don't work.Is there MATLAB for linux ??'
pleasee help!
oo yeah the linux works fine after that crash but the winduws is fucked up
the windows guys can't tell shit! i think it is maybe the hardware problem but why does linux work fine!
P.S
windows crashes when it switchs form 8-bit to 32-bit graphic mode, just before you get the big blue welcom screen!

Sounds like a RAM problem, run memtest on your machine.
What kinda of CPU do you have and how old is it?

....and , to use your PC., if possible tune down the clockspeed in the BIOS.

Reboots will sometimes occur due to overheating (thus the above mention of clock speed). You might check to make sure your case is clean and the fans are working good. in addition to the above mentions.

As they said make sure your fan's are clean because if you cpu is to hot it will just reboot now as far as ram if it is bad enought then you willl get a kernel panic error so i would check your case!
