slack 9.0. Where do I compile the kernel?

in slack 8.1 i just went to /usr/local/src and type make xconfig and configured the kernel then compiled it. Where the hell do I do this in 9.0?

/usr/src/linux if you installed the kernel source package, it will be a sym link to /urs/src/linux-2.4.20.

Most ISO images for Slack 9.0 do not offer the kernel sources because of space limitations. You can download from you favorite mirror or use the link below. When downloaded you can use "pkgtool" to install it.
