What is the exact way to compile 2.6.7 kernel source on Slack 10?

Hi there,

I had a great experience with slack 9.1 and I just installed slack 10 last night..but everything just get messed up..there is no sound, no USB adsl modem detection..so I guess I have to compile the kernel from source provided in the /testing directory (disk 2) as I want to make it optimize for my Pentium M as well..

But I read somewhere, that you have to deal with initrd.. So can you guys show me the exact step how to compile 2.6.7 on slackware 10, because the one that I read somewhere in this forum does not mention about 'mkinitrd'..and I get confused

sorry to have ask this type of question again. But I hope someone can help me.Thanks in advance.

Thanks DrOzz,

from your guide and as far as my understanding, there is no need for me to have initrd.img if I have no SCSI drive and build my file system into the kernel not as module, am I correct?

Anyway, thanks a lot for your reply
