SOLVED - Looks like I had to rebuild the grant/privelege tables. Once I did that, had no problems... Also of note, it looks like the mysql.sock is now running in /var/run/mysql - not sure if this is different than in the previous version, but I couldn't connect using the GUI MySQL tools until I specified the new value for the Sock file...

I did the Slackware upgrade using the procedure in "UPGRADE.TXT" on the first Slack Cd. All seems to have upgraded smoothly, except it looks like my MySQL installation got messed up a little. Having gone to the MySQL documentation, it appears that when a MySQL upgrade is done, you need to run some configuration scripts again? My first install was the MySQL package that came with Slack 10.0, so I've never done an upgrade before now. My first real question, then, is - does the Slackware package upgrade tool run these scripts, or do I have to do that manually after I'm done? My original DBs are still there, I'm just getting "Access Denied" errors now when I try to connect...
Thanks in advance
