Question Restarting X after Log out

I recently decided to switch from Mandrake 9.2 to Slackware 9.1 and got everything going except I have this one problem.

Whenever I log out of a GUI as either root or user, and try to startx again I get the message "command not recognized". I then have to reboot to get x started again.

I've tried su back and forth and startx and just keep getting the same "command not recognized" until I reboot. Then it lets me log in to either account and startx but to switch to the other account I have to log out then reboot.

Any info or tips you guys can give would be great.

Try "gdm" or "kdm" or "xdm". Or just "X"

Command not recognized probably means you need to specify the path explicitly, such as: /usr/X11R6/bin/startx or something like that

Hey guys thanks for the tips, I forgot to put in my original post that I had tried kdm, gdm, xdm. but nothing worked but thanks at least I eliminated a couple things.

Also sorry it took so long to get back to you my jobs kept me busy the last few days.

make sure the path to startx is in your PATH (i think it is /usr/X11R6/bin/)
