Meanwhile, you can uncomment this line in /etc/profile.d/freetype.sh :
Code:
export FREETYPE_PROPERTIES="truetype:interpreter-version=35"
I tried with different interpreter versions - results vary, but still not good as it was with the previous freetype version. Any idea why they changed this?

@KewlCat,ajevremovic: The freetype 2.8 series seems not to be an improvement for you and me (see https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...nt-4175606199/). That is why I pinned freetype to 2.7.1.

Robby, just for your information:

I continued my tests of the new version of 'udisks' 2.7.4 now with:

dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-3
libbytesize-1.2
libblockdev-2.14
volume_key-0.3.9

it works properly here.

I agree, too. PHP 7(.1) is now de facto standard: https://seld.be/notes/php-versions-s...log+%3E+PHP%29

In fact, almost all distributions permit (and do) a parallel install of PHP5.6 and PHP7.0, PHP7.1, etc...

It is matter of a .htaccess editing for NGINX, and with a bit of headache is possible also under Apache, if the PHP is compiled thread-safe, like in Slackware.

Trust me, I use in parallel the stock PHP5.6 and PHP7.0 and 7.1 installed in /opt, since more than one year ago.

It will be a bit strong-hand to dismiss PHP5.6 today, because many, but really many Wordpress plugins, Drupal modules, also more serious and academic things like the Moodle plugins still require the PHP5.6.

I for one, I believe that is worth hundred times more for the Slackware team to focus in adding NGINX and parallel installations of PHP5.6, PHP7.0, PHP7.1 and (near to be) PHP7.2, also in the adding LinuxPAM/Kerberos support, instead of insisting on that The Fifth Thing, ugly like hell and stable like its code was written by a bunch of drunk blind guys.

BUT, I am not the one who guide the Slackware, so I just yell in the desert hoping someone will hear me.

And I have a question for the guys lamenting about the burden of adding LinuxPAM/Kerberos to Slackware:

IF that's burden, those handful of packages to add are a burden, how you describe the operation of replacing half of the packages from distribution, to adopt That Ugly Thing? Double standards there?

I don't know if they drink while coding, but I can name several blind guys who are really good coders

Tell me, please those blind guys who code on The Fifth Thing. In fact, considering its UI/X is no wonder that there are a bunch of blind coders.

The bad thing is that myself I am NOT blind (yet?), and I want a desktop interface for those like me, who see the display, with all respect for the blind guys being said that.

I get such things, and video stops. Fixed by using MPlayer snapshot from mplayerhq.hu.
